Kan Reki - The 60th Birthday
Commissioned by a client in Australia as a surprise for her husband's 60th birthday. In Japanese culture, this is a very significant milestone. The words Kan and Reki mean "return to the calendar" - the end of one life cycle, and start of another.

On a personal level, we also learned that the recipient of the gift is a Pisces, and loves fly fishing in New Zealand. (His chosen way to celebrate this special event.) So Tim had the idea of 'The River of Life' - and the final work was inspired by the closing words of Norman Maclean's classic novel, 'A River Runs Through It'.
